In 1069, after the Norman conquest of England, a half-Danish Northumbrian thegn joins a Danish-backed rebellion to retake York. When the Danes are bought off, the nobles flee, and William marches north in winter, Ormric chooses to remain with a handful of men and hold the city long enough for its people to escape.
Explore the filmographyThe New King’s Peace was developed as a feature film concept alongside a solo photoreal CG production pipeline. The project brought writing, character development, animation, environments, lighting, rendering and post-production into one end-to-end workflow, built around tools including Blender, Character Creator and iClone. Alongside the film treatment and selected screenplay scenes, the project produced character work, visual development and technical planning to establish both the world of the film and a practical route for bringing it to screen.

Preparing for Battle is the finished proof-of-concept scene produced from that pipeline. Set inside a church as William’s army approaches York, it follows Ormric, Wulfstan and Anwen as they prepare for battle before Cuthwine breaks the silence and urges them to flee. The scene was taken from script through performance, layout, CG production and post-production, and now serves both as a visual test for The New King’s Peace and as a showcase of end-to-end digital filmmaking across character work, cinematography, lighting, rendering, compositing and sound.
